Strategic Focus : Increased Cultural Participation : Creativity & Youth

Purpose: To design a new regional initiative that unleashes children's creativity by connecting them to a variety of arts and cultural organizations and resources outside of the classroom.

Outcome: A compelling funding case for transforming the way in which Silicon Valley engages children from birth through 18 years of age in the creative process.

Why It's Important:
From birth through the teenage years, arts and creativity play critical roles in the social, language and educational development of our youth. Research shows that creativity is vital to this development at each critical development stage.

The Strategies/ What We Are Proposing To Do:
Develop abundant, out-of-classroom opportunities for Silicon Valley youth to explore, engage and exhibit the arts.

OUTCOMES:

• Children and youth throughout the region are connecting with a variety of arts and cultural organizations and resources and are actively unleashing their creativity
• Youth take pride in seeing their own creative endeavors presented and exhibited publicly
• A new funding stream for arts in the Valley with a youth component is developed
